Issue
The CBIZ Engagement & Wellbeing team was brought in to help address growing concerns around employee morale, engagement, and the overall workplace experience. Leaders recognized the need to reconsider daily work practices to meet the current needs of employees, bridging a wide generational gap between long-tenured, older employees and younger staff eager to adopt more modern and efficient ways of working. With a unique mix of office-based, hybrid, and fully remote employees, the organization faced challenges in creating a cohesive and supportive culture.
Solution
We focused on uncovering the human stories behind the data. Our approach included:
- A Custom Employee Experience Survey: Designed with tailored questions to capture data on employee needs and interests related to wellbeing, benefits, remote/hybrid work, and perceptions of workplace culture.
- Onsite Focus Group Sessions: Facilitated two onsite focus groups to explore employee perspectives on workplace experience, environmental impact, and the effectiveness of current benefits.
- One-on-One Remote Interview Sessions: Conducted six in-depth interviews with fully remote employees to gain insights into the unique challenges and benefits of remote work within the organization.
- Integrated Data Analysis: Performed a comprehensive analysis of qualitative and quantitative data gathered from surveys, focus groups, and interviews to identify key themes, trends, and areas for improvement.
Outcome
- Achieved a 63% response rate on the employee survey.
- Delivered a comprehensive Employee Experience Analysis.
- Identified 14 actionable recommendations organized across six critical areas: cultural indicators, hybrid & remote work, leadership & management impact, feedback & recognition, wellbeing, and benefits.
- Equipped leadership with data-driven justification to invest in high-impact areas, including feedback training, compensation adjustments, communication tools, and employee wellbeing initiatives.
- 63% – Response rate on employee survey
- 14 – Targeted recommendations to improve employee experience
- Insights that Drive Action – Data-backed direction for strategic investments
