A large food distributor and wholesaler with existing ties to CBIZ was introduced to our property and casualty capabilities, opening the door to an additional service to meet their evolving needs: commercial insurance.
Issue
This organization was working with a local insurance agent who was not providing the high level of service an account of their size demands. In addition, a thorough review of their policies and loss runs revealed coverage gaps, overlapping coverage on policies with different carriers, and a strong need to streamline policies into fewer than seven different expiration dates.
Solution
The CBIZ Property & Casualty team presented a proposal that included the findings from our coverage review, loss analytics modeling, and a tentative service calendar reflecting our in-house loss prevention and claims management capabilities.
Outcome
CBIZ won the account via Broker of Record (BOR) in July 2025. Our team renewed eight of the client’s policies in December 2025, consolidating seven of the eight policies into a single expiration date. The CBIZ loss prevention consultant has visited the client’s Long Island facilities twice, producing detailed follow-up reports and helping the client rewrite and improve their safety manual and fleet management program. CBIZ is currently looking into writing the client’s Auto & Excess policy in June 2026, expanding their relationship with our property and casualty team.
