Issue
CBIZ began supporting a highly people-centered organization in the early childhood education sector in 2016 as an external HR partner, where building trust was essential to eff ective collaboration. In this role, we served as a neutral third party between leadership and staff , ensuring employees understood HR’s role in supporting their success in early childhood education.
Solution
To build trust across the organization, our team focused on listening fi rst, even when immediate solutions were not available. Further, we found it critical to learn more about the organization’s mission, challenges, and culture. We approached conversations with empathy and consistency, remained transparent about what we could and could not provide, and made ourselves accessible to both staff and leadership. Even as external partners we tried our best to maintain consistent staffi ng throughout the years, delivering the feel of internal support while maintaining the role of a third party when necessary. This approach strengthened our role as a trusted liaison between the two groups.
Outcome
As trust deepened, the organization continued to rely on our team even as internal HR capabilities expanded. Today, we continue to support core functions such as payroll processing, benefi ts administration, and extended leave coordination, while also serving as a thought partner to executive leadership. Our historical knowledge of the organization’s HR operations for over ten years is respected and valued. As unique situation arise, we are seen as a part of not just the HR team but the organization-wide team.
