Issue
National laws and regulations can affect the benefits and insurance status quo in an instant. Following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a longtime client was spurred to make a sudden decision about adding family forming and reproductive health benefits to their offerings. Facing a completely shifting landscape, the client consulted CBIZ to find a solution that best served their employees.
Solution
CBIZ engaged its National Inclusive Families Task Force to help the client evaluate available options and identify a path forward.
The team vetted family forming benefit vendors, evaluated alternative funding arrangements, and helped the client assess how different approaches could support employees while aligning with the organization’s overall benefits strategy as well as its larger workforce goals. Based on those findings, the client implemented a standalone family forming support program that expanded access to fertility treatment and other paths to forming a family such as surrogacy and adoption.
Outcome
The program generated significant employee engagement and utilization during its first two years:
- Over 8,500+ touch points in first two years, with an average 5/5 provider rating
- Almost 70 program activations in the first two years, including fertility support, egg freezing, surrogacy, adoption, and maternity
- 22.6% of utilizers were male employees
- Almost $400,000 total in reimbursement in the program’s first two years
