What to Expect from the Updated Federal Audit Clearinghouse Submission Process

Table of Contents

The Federal Audit Clearinghouse (FAC) submission process is undergoing significant changes, effective from October 1st, 2023. As we transition to the new system, it’s crucial to stay informed and prepared. Here’s what you need to know to ensure a smooth submission of your fiscal year (FY) 2023 Single Audits:

Key Changes and Steps for Submission

  • New Submission Platform: Submissions for FY 2023 onwards will be made through a new system at https://www.fac.gov/
The legacy Census FAC system accepted submissions for FY 2022 until October 1, 2023.
  • Login Requirements: A Login.gov account is now mandatory for all users involved in the single audit submission process, including auditees and auditors. You can create your secure account entirely online at https://login.gov/
  • Unique Entity ID (UEI): Ensure your organization has a UEI before starting the data collection process. You can obtain this from https://sam.gov/
  • Accessing the New System: Visit the new GSA FAC website at https://www.fac.gov/
Detailed instructions for submission are available here.
  • Historical Records: For historical FAC records from FYs 2016 – 2022, refer to the Census’ Image Management System at https://facdissem.census.gov/

Tips for a Smooth Transition

  • Start Early: Don’t wait until the last minute. Begin by setting up your login on the GSA website and ensuring your UEI is in order.
  • Familiarize Yourself with the New System: Review the step-by-step instructions on the GSA website to understand the new process thoroughly.
  • Keep Updated: Stay informed about any further updates or changes to the submission process.

By staying ahead and preparing accordingly, you can easily navigate these changes. If you have any questions or need assistance, your CBIZ team is here to help you every step of the way.
