Ohio’s strong STEM and technical workforce drives business growth and success. However, maintaining a consistent talent pipeline remains a challenge for employers nationwide. JobsOhio has introduced a new Relocation Incentive program to support Ohio employers of all sizes in targeted industries with direct financial incentives for attracting out-of-state professionals.
Benefit
Eligible employers may receive $15,000 for each out-of-state individual hired and relocated, up to a maximum of $225,000 per company.
Eligibility
Employers may be eligible for the incentive program if they meet all the following eligibility criteria:
- Physically located in Ohio
- Conducting business in one of JobsOhio’s targeted industries and business functions
- Hiring for permanent W2 roles in JobsOhio’s Priority Occupations
- Provide an increase in eligible hires over the prior three-year average baseline number of relocated hires for priority occupations
Key Highlights of the New Program
- Designed to attract new Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), and technical talent to Ohio from out of state
- Funds can be used flexibly: for signing bonuses, relocation packages, or out-of-state recruiting initiatives
- The goal is to bring fresh talent to all regions of Ohio, avoid in-state poaching, and allow flexible fund use
- Employers of all sizes: Dedicated funding for companies of all sizes to ensure any employer can participate
- Application and approval are required before hiring eligible employees
- No penalty in applying: Companies within targeted industries should consider applying now to obtain approval. By doing so, they can request incentive disbursement as soon as the above baseline qualified hire establishes Ohio residency and begins employment before funds run out.
