New York Paid Family Leave Updates for 2025

As a reminder, the paid family leave law provides up to 12 weeks of paid time off for baby bonding, to care for a family member, or military exigency. Paid family leave may also be available in some situations when an employee or their minor, dependent child is under an order of quarantine or isolation due to COVID-19. Paid family leave for COVID-19 ends July 31, 2025.

The paid family leave benefit is fully funded by employees through a payroll deduction. At its discretion, the employer can choose to pay all or a portion of the cost of the program.

Below are the contribution and benefit amounts:

  • The contribution amount increases to 0.388% in 2025 (0.373% in 2024) of an employee’s gross wages each pay period, with a maximum annual contribution cap of $354.53 for 2025 ($333.25 for 2024). Alternative earnings test amount for TDI: $15,200
  • The benefit amount will remain at 67% of an individual’s average weekly wage, up to a cap of 67% of the current statewide average weekly wage amount for 2025.  The maximum weekly benefit is $1,177.32 for 2025 ($1,151.16 for 2024)
