Melville (Mel) Nguyen, CPA, MBT, has over twenty years of experience working in public accounting. He has extensive working knowledge and experience in providing tax planning and compliance services to high net worth individuals and closely-held businesses. Mel also has a high success rate in defending clients in tax audits.
He started his accounting career with Ernst & Young. Over time, he’s developed expertise in multi-state and cross-border tax planning, including issues related to the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA). He’s knowledgeable in reviewing complex real estate transactions, including IRC Section 1031 exchanges. Mel also consults on stock options and M&A matters.
Mel is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the California State Society of CPAs. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Master’s degree in Taxation. Mel earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
In his free time, Mel relaxes by seeking new ‘off-road’ trails outdoors to jog on that are away from the hustle and bustle of life. He reads often to follow current trends in taxation.
