  • Overview

    Jim King currently serves CBIZ, Inc. as a Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of its Employee Benefits National Practice, which sells and services health & welfare plans and insurance policies to employers across the country.   These policies and programs are then offered by the employers as benefit plans to their respective employee population.   The business is one of many businesses that compose CBIZ, Inc., a publicly traded professional services organization.
    The COO role spans all aspects of the business to include: Marketing/Sales, Professional Services, Clients, Employees, Financial Operations and full P&L responsibility.  In this role, Jim is responsible for formulating and managing the national P&L through budgeting and forecasting, as well as the daily business operation, and the ongoing financial performance of the business.   Jim will often lead key or strategic initiatives such as understanding Healthcare Reform, ACA Compliance, and the impact it has on clients.   As the business evolves and changes, Jim leads the search for key technology products, alternate business processes, or new best practices that are needed to remain competitive and successful in all geographic markets.  Another key area of responsibility is Mergers & Acquisitions and senior talent recruitment.   Jim will often be involved in searching out good acquisition candidates or key individual personnel for hire, lead the due diligence process, and oversee the resulting business integration.

    Prior to his current role, Jim served in multiple leadership and executive roles ranging from corporate headquarter-based staff, to various market-based Business Unit President & Regional President positions.  For the past several years, Jim has operated in the professional services realm of both the technology and health insurance industries, overseeing multiple P&L’s, ongoing business operations, strategic initiatives, and the business integration aspects of select acquisitions/divestitures.  Jim has a strong technology and business process background and uses it to integrate existing and newly acquired businesses into common operations. 

    Jim’s professional foundation is based on over 25 years of information and technology management, software development, consulting and business leadership experience.  Jim is experienced and comfortable in working with cross-disciplined leadership teams to formulate rich and balanced strategic roadmaps.
