“This client is a good example of how one individual in CBIZ, because of a good relationship with a referral source, can make a difference and obtain a great client who is utilizing numerous services from a few different offices.”
The new client Jason Vanden Bosch refers to is FZSonick, an Elgin, Illinois-based distributor of industrial batteries used by large telecommunications companies such as the wireless carriers. The individual responsible for the new client opportunity is Don Reiser, Managing Director, CBIZ MHM New York.
“FZSonick imports batteries from a manufacturer in Europe,” says Jason, Senior Managing Director, CBIZ MHM, Chicago. “Don has a relationship with the company’s attorney in New York, who introduced us to the client. Since FZSonick was just formed in late 2016, we were able to work with them since the inception of the U.S. company.”
Because the entire management team for this company is in Switzerland, Jason says,
“communication can be difficult at times because of the language barrier and also the logistics. We just had to plan conference calls and meetings around their schedules either in Europe or when they were traveling to the U.S.”
CBIZ has completed tax compliance work and MHM has reviewed financial statements for FZSonick, and the client is considering having CBIZ perform a state nexus analysis and transfer pricing work.
“Don’s relationship with the company’s attorney was instrumental in obtaining this work without the company going out for bid,” says Jason. “Also, the breadth of services that CBIZ could provide, including the state tax nexus analysis and transfer pricing, was very appealing to the client.”
