Each year, CBIZ hosts an annual food drive competition between all of our 100+ offices, and for the past 3 years (3!) the Phoenix office has come out on top. Now, we don't like to brag (well, not too much), but we outdid ourselves during the 2016 food drive, raising just under $20,000 for St. Mary's Food Bank! And as the winners of the company-wide competition, our corporate office donated an additional $5,000 to St. Mary's, pushing our total to nearly $25,000. As you can imagine, we were thrilled with this outcome!

While we here in the Phoenix office were perfectly content with our hard won bragging rights, we were excited to learn that St. Mary's Food Bank was honoring CBIZ & MHM as a 2017 Hunger Hero. Deborah Kimes, Business Development Manager, and Ashley Gojic, Marketing Manager, attended the awards luncheon to accept the award on our behalf, and to hear about the incredible impact of the work St. Mary's does in our community.

"It was so inspiring to learn about the vast impact St. Mary's has on reducing hunger in Arizona. It's hard to imagine the outcomes for those in need without the assistance St. Mary's provides," said Ashley Gojic. "We are beyond proud to support St. Mary's, and look forward to strengthening our relationship with them through volunteering and continued fundraising efforts."

Many thanks to our Phoenix team members and their families for their continued efforts to help the hungry in our community!

To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of CBIZ this year, a total of 20,000 hours of volunteer time in local communities nationwide will be donated in addition to the donation of $20,000 to a CBIZ-sponsored charity. The Tampa Bay office chose to volunteer for both Junior Achievement and Bay Pines Veterans Hospital.

More than 50 Junior Achievement volunteers spent the morning at Lynch Elementary School in St. Petersburg teaching 2nd, 3rd and 5th graders a variety of different lesson plans. Due to the efforts of our volunteers, we were able to reach more than 300 students through the Junior Achievement program.

More than 60 C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center volunteers spent the morning visiting with veterans, cleaning and sanitizing wheelchairs, and assisting veterans with their commute to a Veterans Day Ceremony honoring all who served.

On Saturday October 1st, a group of employees from the Memphis office volunteered to help with registration and accounting aspects at the JDRF One Walk, a one mile walk to raise money and awareness for the millions affected by Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). The walk was held at the newly redesigned Shelby Farms Park.

Many of the teams brought tents, chairs, and music to set-up in the center of the field at Shelby Farms Park where most of the excitement took place. One of the crowded favorites was the aerialists that performed after the walk, one of which was diagnosed with T1D at just 2 years old.

Members of #teamcbiz helped to check people in at the registration table and provide a welcoming attitude to many families that have children struggling with Type 1 Diabetes. The Memphis office's own, Vicki Bari, helped to calculate the overall money count for the 2016 JDRF One Walk. This year, the event raised over $460,000!

CBIZ & MHM Memphis is always proud to be a part of community events like this one. It is great to see many different people unite over making the world a better place, especially a place without Type 1 Diabetes.

Not only does the Phoenix office of CBIZ MHM provide superior service to our not-for-profit clients, we also dedicate our personal time to supporting the not-for-profit community. A group of Phoenix employees recently worked with Habitat for Humanity of Central Arizona to assist in the construction of one of their latest homes. The team worked on installing all of the trim throughout the house as well as applying caulk and spackle to the trim work. It was a great day giving back and working as a team!
