The 2013 class of Super Women in Business were honored at an awards luncheon Thursday, August 29th at Hilton Memphis. The event, hosted by Memphis Business Journal, was the second of its kind honoring 25 of the Mid-South's most influential women decision-makers. Gayle Rose of EVP Corp. in Memphis gave the keynote address to nearly 500 attendees.

Megan Murdock, on the behalf of CBIZ MHM Memphis, followed Rose with insight into our CBIZ Women's Advantage and appreciation for our sponsorship. The 25 Super Women were individually recognized and each gave a short acceptance speech. CBIZ MHM Memphis has been a sponsor of these awards since its start in 2012.

Our pre-party event honoring past and present honorees is another way for honorees to network and mingle with each other before the official awards ceremony. This year the CBIZ display table at Hilton featured pictures from the pre-event at Mednikow Jewelers.

The Memphis office of CBIZ MHM held its annual Super Women in Business Awards Pre-Event Party on Tuesday night, August 20th. This event precedes the Memphis Business Journal's Super Women in Business Awards luncheon that will be held later this month. Steve Dunavant, Senior Managing Director, welcomed the crowd to the CBIZ-sponsored event and gave his personal support for the Awards, as well as the recognition it gives to the Mid-South's leading women decision makers. Both the 2013 class and the 2012 class of honorees were invited to mingle and network over drinks and hors d'oeurvres.

This year the event was held at Mednikow Jewelers, a multi-generational Memphis storefront. Over 50 people enjoyed the luxurious jewels on display throughout the venue. Attendees could try-on and purchase jewelry at the time of the event. Mednikow jewelry experts were also available to provide insight into the quality and craftsmanship of their selection. Linda Lauer, Managing Director, is pictured wearing one of the store's necklaces with Mednikow gemologist, Tiffany Brimhall.

Lauer, Executive Board member for the CBIZ Women's Advantage as well as CBIZ Memphis' CWA leader, offered her insight on the importance of an internal support system of women professionals, as well as an external network of highly-skilled, seasoned, professional women.

Food and bar service was provided by Jim's Place Restaurant & Bar. A special martini bar was also set-up as a fun addition to the event. A $150 giftcard giveaway for Etcetera clothing was also an exciting feature. Mednikow party favors were distributed at the end of the night to the Super Women in Business as they left the venue. It was certainly a glamorous night, and 50 of the Mid-South's most influential business women shined. To view this year's list of Super Women in Business click here. In April we published a story highlighting our selection as a finalist in the Mid-South's Healthiest Employers Awards hosted by the Memphis Business Journal. We attended the awards breakfast hosted at the Hilton Memphis along with other finalists throughout the Greater Memphis Area.Occurring during our busiest time of the year, our selection was recognized, but not fully celebrated. This week, we honor CBIZ and its Great Health Program, our Memphis office and its efforts to provide healthy wellness solutions throughout the year and most importantly, our employees who work so hard to maintain a balanced lifestyle both at work and at home.

With the help of our corporate CBIZ team, we showed our appreciation for all who contributed to our final finish in the awards with a special breakfast treat. One of our favorite local catering companies, Panini Catering, hosted a tasty omelette and cappuccino bar for the entire Memphis office on Monday morning. As one employee tweets, "Fantastic way to start the day. No #caseoftheMondays here. @CBIZMemphis does it right once again!" The Memphis Business Journal recently partnered with Healthiest Employers, a wellness technology and data research firm focused on corporate health, to spotlight companies in the Mid-South who have outstanding health and wellness initiatives and cultures. The Memphis office of CBIZ MHM was selected as a finalist in the '2-99 Employees' category and was honored at an awards breakfast Thursday, March 28, at the Hilton Memphis.

Honorees were selected based on their participation in a survey that measured their workplace wellness efforts. Our office-wide fitness challenges, including our Biggest Loser and Pedometer Challenges, coupled with our CBIZ Great Health Program, are instrumental in our wellness success. We also implemented a Flexible Work Arrangement, unique to our Memphis office, giving our employees an opportunity to balance their work and life schedules, reducing their stress and improving their overall health.

During our busiest times of the year, we boost productivity by maintaining a healthy workplace environment. We provide weekly fruit deliveries during this time and implement fitness challenges to supplement healthy eating habits. Our most successful fitness programs were suggested by employees, as they take ownership in their own well-being and create a culture they want to be a part of and contribute to. Our Biggest Loser challenge encourages healthy eating and daily exercise habits. The team dynamic provides large amounts of support and last year's group lost a total of over 80 pounds. Another challenge currently in progress is our Pedometer Challenge. We show that getting in shape doesn't have to be complicated -- it can be as simple as walking.

As an incentive to participate, we allow employees to join in on the fun free of cost and make the challenges competitive, giving prizes to the overall winners. Additionally, we are fortunate to have national resources such as the CBIZ Great Health program easily accessible to all of our employees. The Memphis office is proud to have been selected as a finalist in these awards and is committed to maintaining these high standards of health and wellness in our workplace.
