San Francisco Employer Reporting Cancelled

Due to COVID-19 situation, the Mayor of San Francisco cancelled the annual reporting obligation for employers subject to the Health Care Security Ordinance (HCSO).  The 2019 Annual Report reflecting an employer’s health care expenditures was to be filed by April 30, 2020.

While the 2019 reporting obligation has been cancelled, all other requirements of the HCSO remain in force. This means that employers are still required to continue to make their health care expenditures for the first quarter by April 30, 2020.  The required minimum health care expenditure is calculated by multiplying the total number of “hours paid” to that employee by the applicable expenditure rates, which for 2020 are as follows:

Employer Size (company-wide)

2020

  • 100+ Employees

$3.08/hour

  • 20-99 Employees
  • Nonprofits 50-99 Employees

$2.05/hour
