July was not a strong month for the construction sector. Sales and profit margin expectations have decreased, and so have staffing level intentions from previous periods. Changes in total permits and total starts are also down from the previous month and year. Unemployment rates for construction are slightly higher, 4.9 percent compared to the nation's overall unemployment rate, 4.3 percent.
