Since 2009, CBIZ employees have collected and donated over 5.5 million pounds of food to help stock food pantries in our local communities. Our past two years’ efforts each brought in over a million pounds of food for those in need, and we are striving to meet the 1 million-pound mark again this year.
The annual CBIZ Food Drive kicks off on Monday, Oct. 30 and will run through Nov. 10. Our theme this year is “Kickoff 2017: Tackle Hunger,” and we’re eager to see our employees across the country join the blitz against this issue.
CBIZ has been hosting the Food Drive for the last eight years to give back to the communities we serve. The Food Drive has always been a success as our employees across the country embrace the opportunity to help. As in past years, we have asked our employees from our 100+ offices to collect nonperishable goods or make monetary donations (every dollar donated equals five pounds of food).
To make the campaign fun while working toward a common goal, we have few friendly contests. We will name top-collecting winners in categories based on the size of the office: small (1-20 employees), medium (21-59 employees) and large (60+ employees). The top two collecting sites in each category will receive a cash donation to their community food bank. First place winners will also receive a half-day off, and second place winners will receive breakfast or lunch for the staff. Each office category will also have one winner recognized as the “Most Improved,” which measures the percentage increase in donations over last year.
Additionally, we encourage our employees to get creative by asking them to design displays for the collected items. The display can be based on our national theme or can be a design of their choice. We’re excited to see our teams’ ideas come to life! See some of the top displays from last year’s Food Drive here.
As a national employer, we recognize our ability to help those in need in each of our local communities. We are proud to kick off another Food Drive and continue our mission to eradicate hunger among our neighbors.
