Our September Small Business Employment Index
(SBEI) has been released and the findings show a 2.55 percent decrease during September, following an increase of 1.15 percent in small business hiring in August
. Additionally, this reduction registers higher than previous September shifts we’ve tracked.
The SBEI’s drastic decrease in small business hiring contrasts with reports from the private sector that the job market grew beyond expectations last month. ADP’s September jobs survey
reported the private sector added 162,000 jobs, which beat analysts’ estimates, but fell short of August’s revised tally of 189,000 jobs added.
