CBIZ Small Business Employment Index stabilizes

Our October Small Business Employment Index (SBEI) has been released and the findings show a 0.89 percent decrease during October, following a decrease of 2.55 percent in small business hiring in September.

Although the actual SBEI metric shows a decline of 0.89 percent, the number of companies hiring exceeded those decreasing employment, which coincides with reports from the private sector that the job market grew beyond expectations last month. ADP’s October jobs survey reported the private sector added 158,000 jobs, which exceeded analysts’ estimates and surpassed September’s revised tally of 114,000 jobs added.

Check out the graphic below to see other trends and results from the SBEI index.

Additional information on these findings can be found in October’s Small Business Employment Index press release.
