The November CBIZ Small Business Employment Index (SBEI) has been released and the findings show a 0.82 percent increase during November, following a decrease of 0.89 percent in small business hiring in October. The SBEI’s slight increase in small business hiring corresponds with ADP’s November jobs survey, which revealed that the private sector added 118,000 jobs in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, however still came up short compared to October’s revised tally of 157,000 added jobs.

The June SBEI increased by 1.38 percent, following an increase of 1.34 percent in small business hiring in May. The positive number represents three consecutive months of positive employment growth in the small business sector.

Our CBIZ Small Business Employment Index (SBEI) report for May shows a healthy gain in employment for small businesses. This is a welcomed, strong reading and indicates that the domestic economic growth we have seen continues to support the small business owner and his or her hiring.
