The November CBIZ Small Business Employment Index (SBEI) has been released and the findings show a 0.82 percent increase during November, following a decrease of 0.89 percent in small business hiring in October. The SBEI’s slight increase in small business hiring corresponds with ADP’s November jobs survey, which revealed that the private sector added 118,000 jobs in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, however still came up short compared to October’s revised tally of 157,000 added jobs.

Additionally, this reduction registers higher than previous September shifts we’ve tracked.

Our August Small Business Employment Index (SBEI) has been released and the findings show an improvement in employment for small businesses. The August SBEI increased by 1.15 percent, following a decrease of 1.57 percent in small business hiring in July.

Our July Small Business Employment Index (SBEI) has recently been released and the findings show a slight drop in employment for small businesses. The July SBEI decreased by 1.57 percent, following an increase of 1.38 percent in small business hiring in June.

Our June Small Business Employment Index (SBEI) was just released and the findings show solid growth in employment for small businesses. The June SBEI increased by 1.38 percent, following an increase of 1.34 percent in small business hiring in May. The positive number represents three consecutive months of positive employment growth in the small business sector.
