Kellie Lanford is a Director who joined CBIZ MHM, LLC’s National State and Local Tax Practice in March 2012. Ms. Lanford leads the unclaimed property practice which includes assisting clients with internal unclaimed property reviews, voluntary disclosures, due diligence and annual compliance reporting, application of business to business exemptions, gift card reporting requirements, audit controversy, and general unclaimed property consulting. Ms. Lanford is also experienced in analyzing business/nonbusiness issues, unitary filing issues, application of U.S. Constitutional limitations on interstate taxation, alternative apportionment issues, and application of sales and use tax rules for a variety of industries.
Immediately prior to joining CBIZ, Ms. Lanford served as Tax Specialist with Dow Lohnes Price Tax Consulting Group LLC beginning in 2007. During her tenure, Ms. Lanford managed the firm’s unclaimed property practice and contributed her knowledge and expertise throughout the unclaimed property community via various newsletters, articles, and speaking engagements. Ms. Lanford also significantly contributed to the resolution of state income and franchise tax controversy issues for her clients.
Ms. Lanford began her career with Deloitte & Touche in Greenville, South Carolina in 1996, and in 2001 joined PricewaterhouseCoopers in Spartanburg, South Carolina. During her ten years in Big 4 public accounting, she operated as a general tax practitioner and managed clients across the Southeast in a variety of industries. Her responsibilities included tax related financial statement reporting issues, federal income taxes, state and local income taxes, franchise taxes, audit resolutions, and tax planning.
