David is a Managing Director in the Tax Group and joined CBIZ Tofias in 2005 from the New England tax practice of Ernst & Young. He has more than 16 years of experience in serving U.S.-owned and foreign-owned multinational companies, private equity funds and their portfolio companies, family-owned businesses, and high net worth individuals. David has worked with clients to tax-efficiently expand their operations domestically and abroad, develop value-added strategic tax plans designed to leverage future business changes, structure acquisitions and dispositions, develop family wealth transfer plans, and assist with ASC 740 (formerly FAS 109) and other tax accounting issues. He has strong technical knowledge and experience in federal, international, and state taxation.

Prior to joining CBIZ Tofias, David served as the leader of Ernst & Young's tax practice in Providence, Rhode Island and coordinated tax services for venture capital funds, foreign-owned businesses, publicly-traded and privately-held companies operating in the technology, manufacturing, and professional services industries. David's past experience also includes performing research & development tax credit studies, acting as temporary Chief Financial Officer for a privately-held software company, and working closely with small business owners to prepare a company for sale. David's expertise includes estate planning, individual tax planning, subchapter S and partnership planning, C Corporation, S Corporation, and partnership returns.
