Diversity & Inclusion

Our Diversity & Inclusion Commitment

In advancing diversity and inclusion, we commit to driving lasting and meaningful change within both CBIZ and the professional services industry. We will foster an inclusive, values-based culture that treats diversity as a business imperative and strive to become an employer of choice for attracting, retaining and advancing diverse talent.

CBIZ is a signatory to the CEO Pledge for Diversity & Inclusion, the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance diversity and inclusion within the workplace. In taking the pledge, we at CBIZ are committing to four key actions that will not only support our own diversity and inclusion related efforts but also help to foster collaboration within our industry and with other like-minded companies. These four actions are:

  • Cultivating a workplace that supports open dialogue on complex, and sometimes difficult, conversations about diversity and inclusion.
  • Implementing unconscious bias training and education.
  • Sharing what’s working and what’s not with our peer companies inside and outside of our industries in order to capture lessons learned and promising practices.
  • Engaging our Board of Directors in the development and evaluation of our comprehensive Diversity & Inclusion strategy and action plans.

Get Involved!

CBIZ team members engage in our D&I efforts through participation in events and activities as a member of our Employee Resource Groups or by serving as a D&I Champion.

  • Our People Matter Speakers Series: This speaker series spotlights diverse voices and perspectives to foster a more inclusive culture and increase awareness on the importance of diversity and inclusion. Past speakers include:
    • Anna Malaika Tubbs, award-winning author of "The Three Mothers"
    • Morgana Bailey, activist and renowned TED Talk Speaker "The Danger of Hiding Who You Are’’
    • Dax-Devlon Ross, educator and author of "Letters to My White Male Friends"
  • CBIZ D&I Extended Learning Series: Team members from across CBIZ connect by reading a select book and engaging in facilitated conversations that create a safe space for exploration of diversity and inclusion. Most recently, our team explored unconscious bias and its impact in the workplace with book, "Blindspot: Hidden Biases of Good People" by Mahzarin R. Banaji and Anthony G. Greenwald.
  • CBIZ Central D&I Site: Team members can access a variety of D&I resources, information and events through a dedicated intranet site. The site is refreshed on monthly basis and includes content recommended by our team.

The four actions required by CEO Action are among a broad set of priorities outlined with our long-term diversity and inclusion strategy. We are excited to launch our CBIZ D&I strategy and to continue to engage our team in this effort.

Employee Resource Groups - ERGs

Our CBIZ ERGs help team members from across CBIZ forge relationships and create connections around shared identity, attributes and experiences.

CBIZ ERGs are expanding! We are adding new ERGs in 2022 that center on our BIPOC and LGBTQ+ team members. Check back soon for more information and opportunities to engage!

CBIZ BIPOC

The CBIZ BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) ERG was created to nurture a sense of belonging for BIPOC employees, provide them with a community, and counter feelings of being an “only”. The ERG increases visibility of underrepresented groups within CBIZ, facilitates and encourages allyship, and helps to foster a culture of inclusion that we hope will contribute to the long term wellbeing, advancement, and retention of employees from underrepresented BIPOC groups.

CBIZ Pride

Established in late 2022, CBIZ Pride is comprised of CBIZ team members nationwide who identify as LGBTQ+, along with those who are allies to the community. CBIZ Pride is dedicated to creating spaces and opportunities for CBIZ team members to ensure their safety and inclusion as LGBTQ+ individuals within the CBIZ network, allowing for members to show up every day as their authentic self.

CBIZ Women's Advantage

This focuses on the development, retention and advancement of women professionals across CBIZ. CWA’s professional development programs build leadership, business development, sales, and client and account management skills that support career growth. CWA also facilitates structured programs like:

  • Spark: Personal Growth Series
  • Ignite: Professional Development Series
  • Enlighten: Personal Growth Series
  • MasterClass Series

CBIZ Young Professionals

CBIZ Young Professionals (CYP) engages our early career professionals in the pursuit and achievement of their personal and professional goals and the expansion of their professional networks both inside and outside CBIZ. CYP connects team members across CBIZ to foster collaboration and innovation. CYP leads our mentorship pilot program, featuring a curriculum and structured engagement for both mentors and mentees.
