    Mr. Zucarelli is President Emeritus of CBIZ Benefits & Insurance Services, Inc. of Arizona.  The firm provides employee benefit services to both private and public sector clients.  The firm specializes in employee benefits and is one of Arizona’s largest employee benefit insurance agencies. The firm is affiliated with Century Business Services (CBIZ) a leading national company in the employee benefits arena.  Mr. Zucarelli serves on CBIZ’s national health carrier expert network committee and develops/manages key business relationships focusing on distribution of products and services for purchasers of health insurance.  Mr. Zucarelli also provides managed healthcare and specialized healthcare strategic consultative services to purchasers and providers.  Additionally, Mr. Zucarelli is currently serving as a director of the Health Plan Alliance, an organization comprised of over 40 provider sponsored health plans representing over 8 million health plan lives throughout the country. 

     

    In addition to his role at CBIZ, Mr. Zucarelli provides strategic consultative services to purchasers and provider of healthcare services throughout the United States.  Reforming the healthcare system to be more responsive and efficient to the needs of patients and consumers is a passionate commitment he holds dear.  Mr. Zucarelli has personally managed or provided consultation to over 20 healthcare mergers or acquisitions.  These M&A activities ranged from publically traded Insurance Companies, Provider Sponsored Health Plans and Physician/ Medical Group Practices.

     

    Prior to CBIZ, Mr. Zucarelli served as President and Chief Executive Officer of HealthPartners Health Plans from 1992 thru 1997. HealthPartners Health Plans was a multi-market managed care insurance company domiciled in Arizona that provided commercial, individual, and Medicare risk health care products to customers throughout the state of Arizona.  Under Mr. Zucarelli’s leadership, HPHP was created by merging the former Phoenix-based Samaritan Health Plan, and Tucson-based PARTNERS Health Plan.  The organization possessed a customer base in excess of 350,000 lives, and most importantly, maintained the highest quality/customer satisfaction ratings in the Arizona market throughout his tenure.

     

    Prior to HealthPartners Health Plan, Mr. Zucarelli was President and Chief Executive Officer of PARTNERS Health Plan of Arizona, Inc. from 1990 to 1992.  From PARTNERS inception in 1987 thru 1992, Mr. Zucarelli served as Executive Director of PARTNERS. During his tenure with PARTNERS, Mr. Zucarelli led the company’s start-up operations, and was a primary influence in strategic planning, as well as in the development of financial policies and operating guidelines.  As President and Chief Executive, he redesigned the company to be market responsive and customer service focused while, at the same time, ensuring fiscal responsibility to its shareholders.

     

    In addition to his managed care responsibilities of PARTNERS and Health Partners Health Plans, Mr. Zucarelli also acted in the role of Sr. Vice President, Managed Care, for which he was responsible for all managed care activities including provider network distribution, contracting and consumer advocacy.  HealthPartners of Southern Arizona provided care to approximately 200,000 southern Arizona members through a network of nine owned ambulatory health centers, 150 employed physicians, approximately 700 contracted Physicians and a tertiary care hospital.  Health Partners employed approximately 4,500 employees and fiscal year 1995 revenue exceeded $500 million. 

     

    During the years 1983 to 1986, Mr. Zucarelli served as Chief Financial Officer for Health America Corporation of Arizona (formerly Pima Care).  Prior to 1983, Mr. Zucarelli was a professional staff member with Coopers and Lybrand where he practiced accounting, auditing and consultative services with an emphasis on the healthcare industry.
